While I drift through the new few months, aimlessly looking for another vehicle, I tended to the only one I have. It was time to give the old girl some TLC.

My neighbor helped me set my canopy back on after rotting in the lawn for 6 months. And it immediately leaked in spite of my efforts. Just like last year. This canopy is for 2nd Gen Toyotas. It’s actually too short for mine. So I siliconed everything I could because I have nothing to lose. I plan on searching hard for a first gen longbed canopy this summer.
The canopy was filled with spiders and snails so that was fun to clean out.
Looks like a previous owner also had troubles
Yep, there’s your problem
Also, other bad news: water is still leaking in my truck somehow. It leaks down the clutch pedal during downpours. So as I do once in a while, it was time to bust out the dehumidifier and hopefully attempt to find the leak during better weather.
In the PNW, you have to be proactive or the mold will win
But now for something positive. I swapped on a tail light from the junkyard (thanks slipperypenguin person). Before you it’s all one unit. I can’t take the brake lense off of the old one :( but still! :)
Also my wipers from the other day:
The sweet ziptie job i mentioned earlier
Yes, i drove around with these for some time
The truck is already covered in pollen because it’s basically spring already here.
Lots of work to do (including mechanically), but I love this truck and will do what I can to keep it going and looking decent... and being safer. By God this might be the summer that I replace the bumper and pull out the dent. This WILL be the year.
Thanks for reading.

Love this truck, you just don’t see them in nice shape like this any more.

I have faith in you. Make your truck showroom condition again.

I bet Mr. Regular would love to drive your truck.

Me gusta el trucko.

If I wasn’t in the Midwest I would offer my tools to help with the dent. Myself I would rather do body work than mechanical on most days.

I imagine it would begin with:
“JDM! JDM! JDM! ...oh, wait. This is American. Dammit. *real fart*”

This is a truck that is really well kept. Don’t let it die

I love this thing. Old trucks are always awesome, they never lose that useful/cool factor over time. Okay, at least not as much as a car would.

I love that is says Long Bed on the tailgate. Also, maybe colour the brake light with whatever people use to smoke lenses?

I had the same idea. Or put translucent red plastic inside the lens.

That’s how my friend “temporarily” fixed one of the French lights for his E30. It’s been like that for over a year, can’t even tell which one it is

The smoking or the red plastic?

Oh, the plastic, yellow in his case

I like that truck. I need some sort of something like it.

Hold out for a second gen and get power steering. I’ve owned 4 cars with no PS, but man, back in 1980, apparently that meant regular access to an on-call chiropractor.

I'm still hoping for a Tercel but I'll totally settle for a truck. I'll keep that in mind.

What about a Corolla AllTrac wagon? Little 90's for my taste but I still love it. Though rare, way more likely to find in better shape than the Tercel, which will rust apart if you sneeze on them.

I adore them too but they’re a lot pricier and seem to get snapped up quickly around here. They're definitely on the list though!
